If your phone says it is charging but the battery percentage is not increasing, it is usually receiving less usable power than it is consuming.

Charging may also slow down or stop because of heat, moisture, a charging limit, damaged accessories, a software problem, or an aging battery.

Start by connecting the phone directly to a reliable wall charger. Turn off the screen and leave it untouched for 20 to 30 minutes.

If the percentage rises, the phone is charging but was previously using too much power or receiving power too slowly. If the battery level stays the same, continue with the checks below.

Plug the charger directly into a working wall outlet. Avoid charging through a computer, monitor, keyboard, car USB port, or multiport hub while testing.

Some USB ports can provide enough power to display the charging symbol without supplying enough power to increase the battery percentage.

A weak power source may keep the phone running without supplying enough power to charge the battery. This is especially common when the screen is on or the phone is performing demanding tasks.

Use one cable between the adapter and phone, turn off the screen, and check the percentage after about 20 minutes. If charging improves, the previous USB port, hub, or adapter was probably limiting power.

Inspect the Charging Port for Dirt or Moisture
